Blue Wilderness’ shark volunteer and shark intern participants learn snorkeling, diving and scientific techniques to collect data that is vital to the management of some of the world’s vulnerable shark species. As well as shark diving and snorkeling with five species of sharks, shark volunteers get the chance to work in the Aliwal Shoal Marine Protected Area, one of South Africa most pristine and important marine biodiversity hotspots. As a shark volunteer, you will directly contribute to the conservation, research and education programmes on Blue Wilderness's shark volunteer and internship program.

Have a question?

Hi

I’m Jessica Escobar, Volunteer Coordinator and Chief Scientist here at Blue Wilderness. I am always available to chat about the program and the work that our team does with shark volunteers on a daily basis. Please submit the adjacent form if you have questions for me, and I will reply soonest

Every shark ecotourism company should contribute to shark research, education and conservation. Our shark volunteer program does exactly that. Through their projects the Blue Wilderness shark volunteers make a huge contribution to the conservation of South Africa’s sharks.
